Posterior Leaf Spring Orthosis

Our Posterior Leaf Spring Orthosis provides flexibility at the ankle during toe off also allowing passive ankle dorsiflexion during the stance phase. PLS AFOs are deemed a swing phase orthosis and effective during swing phase only. The devise is used primarily as a short-term solution while a patient’s condition improves, or a more rigid devise is considered. However, some stroke patients will continue to use this devise indefinitely when conditions cannot improve and lose the ability to dorsiflex permanently.

Spinal Indications:

• Loss of Balance
• Drop Foot
• Hypotonia (Low Muscle Tone)
• Lower limb muscle atrophy
• Stroke

Features:

• 100% orthotic grade Polyproplene or Co-Poly
• AFO with the most posterior trimline
• More ankle motion allowed due to flexibility and minimal to no mediolateral ankle support which delivers minimal reduction of knee ROM and strength.
• Option of plastic or EVA Heel/Forefoot posting
